What is the New Jersey Drivers’ Privacy Protection Act” (“NJDPPA”), N.J.S.A. 39:2-3.3?

The NJDPPA provides that a person who knowingly obtains or discloses information from a motor vehicle record for any use not permitted by the Act is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree and can be held liable, in a civil action in the Superior Court, to the individual to whom the information pertains, including an award of actual damages, punitive damages, and reasonable attorney’s fees and litigation costs.

What does Personal Information mean in Section D - Terms and Conditions?

As defined in the New Jersey Driver’s License Application Form, personal information is information that identifies a person. Personal information includes the following:

• Individual’s photograph
• Social Security Number
• Driver Identification Number
• Name
• Address other than the five-digit zip code
• Telephone number
• Medical or disability information

Is there a fee to request a driving record?

Each request for a record costs $15.

What are the available payment methods?

You may pay in form of cash, personal check, or money order if you are filing the New Jersey Driver’s License Application Form in person.

On the other hand, you may pay in the form of a personal check or money order only if you are filing the New Jersey Driver’s License Application Form by mail.

Can I use a single New Jersey Driver License Application (DO-11) Form to request multiple records?
