Form MVD-10284, Change of Address Request, or the New Mexico Change of Address Form is a document used to notify the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) of a change of address. An individual who moved to, from, or within New Mexico may use it to update the registered address in his or her driver’s license or vehicle or vessel registration within ten days.

Filing the New Mexico Change of Address Form depends on whether you are moving within, to, or from New Mexico.
If you are moving within New Mexico, you must file for a change of address immediately by completing and mailing the New Mexico Change of Address to MVD Data Entry Unit, P.O. Box 630, Santa Fe, N. M. 87504-0630. You may also fax it to 505-827-0977 or submit it in person at any MVD office.
Updating your address on file is free. However, if you want to renew your driver's license, you need $18 for a four-year license or $34 for an eight-year license. For vehicle registration, you must pay $27 to $62 for one-year registration or $54 to $124 for a two-year registration.

If you are moving out of New Mexico, you do not need to file the New Mexico Change of Address Form or notify the New Mexico MVD. In addition, you are not required to return your driver's license or vehicle plates. However, you need to notify the New Mexico MVD if you move out with your registered vehicle. You may do so at any NM MVD office or send a signed statement to Motor Vehicle Division, Joseph Montoya Building, P.O. Box 1028, Santa Fe, NM 87504.
The New Mexico Statutes Sections 66-3-23 and 66-5-22 require individuals to change or update their address when they move to, from, or within New Mexico. They may use the New Mexico Change of Address Form to notify the NM MVD of their new residence address and change the address registered on their driver's license and vehicle registration.
The New Mexico Statutes Section 66-3-23, Notice of change of address or name, states that an individual who made an application for or obtained a vehicle registration or certificate of title moves to a different residence, he or she must notify the division of his or her old and new addresses within ten days.
While Section 66-5-22, Notice of change of address or name, states that a driver license holder who moves from the address named in the application or the issued license must notify the division of the new address within ten days in writing or by electronic media pursuant to department regulations.
